What a wet summer this has been so far this year! All this rain means green grass, great vegetation and beautiful gardens! But it can also have some bad results as well. We have found that many common issues related to the large amounts of rain include flooding, leaks, drips and sometimes even mold.
Mold thrives in warm, moist, damp areas. Prevention is key! How do you prevent the growth and spread of mold? First, you can make sure that your home is kept dry and free of severe humidity. To do so you can open your windows at night and you can make sure there is proper ventilation when cooking and bathing (for example using the hood range on your stove or turning on the bathroom fan). If this doesn't seem to help, you may also purchase a dehumidifier. These are perfect for taking out all that extra humidity in the air and helping keep your home fresh, dry and mold free. Second, be sure to regularly check prone areas for leaks and other accumulations of water. If you notice any pipes leaking, please contact our office at 613-234-8034 and we will arrange to have a plumber go to fix them. Additionally, be sure to thoroughly dry the floors and walls after taking a shower or bath. Keeping mold out of your house can be easy.
